Keeping focused on what matters takes time.
We all have “things” that keep us from living life to the fullest.
These “things” are busy schedules, running from one task to the next, a list of people we need to call to check in with, bills that need to be paid, places we need to go. Or “things” can also be watching too much tv, getting caught up with what is the latest fashion, needing to keep up and have the lastest “it”. “Things” can be activities as well, sports, movies, or maybe art classes. Everyone has “things” and the hardest thing for people to do is let the “things” be put on hold for just a short amount of time each day, just to be still.
It is in the quiet stillness, that one gains their focus on what matters to them.
And it is truly a challenge for every person to just grab a cup of tea or coffee, and just sit, journal and let their thoughts roam freely till there isn’t any more distractions going through them that stops them from seeing life clearly. It literally only takes about 10 minutes to slow yourself down, but the struggle is just slowing down. But once you have gotten through those 10 minutes, you just start to pray to God for him to open your mind and heart to what he wants to share with you.
The greatest moments I have had in my life, are in my quiet times when there is nothing but allowing God to speak to me.
Sometimes, it is about me not being too kind or compassionate to someone. Other times, I hear in the depths of my soul, something that I am being called to do, i.e. maybe call someone to give encouragement. Yet, alot of times it is God just letting me know he loves me, and he is partnering with me in this thing called life. And it is in all these times, what matters comes into focus and I understand that those “things” are so trivial, and will pass away.
I spend quiet time with God every day, and it is the greatest lesson I can offer to people. For it is by spending time with God, you start to live the life you were called to live, one full of passion and purpose.
The key is you have to schedule the time, otherwise the “things” will take over your day and life.
