Sometimes keeping things simple is best.

In so many ways, I think the healthiest thing is to keep our lives real simple. Keeping things simple has so many advantages, less stress, less clutter, less drama, more peace, more balance, and more focus on what matters. The key is to keep things basic, nothing over the top, no big trips, no major shopping sprees, no hanging out with individuals that are bad influences.

Examples of keeping things simple are…..

Maintaining on a financial budget with cost savings included, eating healthy and eating at home, doing some sort of excercise each day, making time just to be still, spending quality time with a loved one, and keeping to your own assignments at work and not taking on additional projects. It maybe even be something simple like, not watching too much tv, not getting involved in other people’s affairs, learning to listen more and talk less. My favorite is just going down to the beach and watching the sunrise or set.

Yet as simple as simple is supposed to be I am amazed how challenging it can be when you set out to make your life simple.

The phone seems to keep ringing, the kids need extra attention, work gets busier, the bills start coming in, things start breaking down, schedules get too busy to go to the gym, it is easier to pick up something to eat than to make something to eat. We splurge and buy something impulsively. We allow others to stress us out. And the last thing we can think about is slowing down to reflect on how to bring things back under control. We are so rattled with all that is going on and we are too distracted to just stop and let go.

It is only when someone says something to us to “slow down” that we stop and get back to the basics.

But thank goodness we do have people in our lives to hold us accountable and tell us to take a deep breath, and just relax. Thank goodness we have people who care about us, that feel safe enough to say, what we  need to hear. Yes, we can try and keep things simple on our own. But in life, things don’t always stay simple for long periods of time. And that is why it is great to have people in our lives to say “Stop” and “Let’s talk about this, because I think we can bring you back on track.”

The holidays are coming upon us soon.

It is a time when most people go shopping, eat too much, don’t excercise, work gets either busier, or people start slacking off. It is a time, where we all stop keeping things simple and we kind of let drama take place in the family dinners, and we get involved in way too many events and parties. I think I am going to try and keep things simple still, and hopefully I will trigger a chain reaction, otherwise there will be stress, worry and no peace at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Besides Love is really all that matters.

At the first of the year, most people start setting up New Year’s resolution.

It is my prayer people keep the concept of keeping it simple in perspective. And I think what is healthiest is that they have someone come along the side them to help them acheive their goals, whether it is healh, finances, relationships, or just want to simplify their home.  If they don’t have someone they certainly can reach out to me and together we will make their life simple.
